NEWS LETTER OF JAPA VIETNAM / SUMMER 2005

POVERTY YES! AND LOVE
Trang Van Binh
I came to Japan 3 years ago to study. After coming here I was introduced for the first time to the Japa Vietnam group and was lucky to join the group during the last journey. I was born and raised in Vietnam. My country is still poor and many people are still living at very low levels. I greatly appreciate the efforts of Japa Vietnam in my country, and I want to thank the group for the love to my people more than for the financial assistance.

What do you think about my country? About Cao Bang and Nghe An? The farmers work hard but there is not enough water, vital roads are bad and food is not enough.

Japa Vietnam members make savings during the whole year not to use them for doing tourism, but to assist the Vietnamese poor. I had the opportunity to accompany them and experience the love they have for people, assisting children to go to school and sick people to receive medical help.
I just joined them as an interpreter, but in the way I was able to change and to learn from them how to grow as a human being: "there is more joy in giving than in receiving." Please, accept my gratitude on behalf of my compatriots.
